In 2007, the Textile Technologies Working Group (TTÇG) was formed by the Uludag Textile Exporters Association (UTIB) with the participation of relevant institutions and organizations in Bursa and its surrounding areas to determine a vision for the future of the Turkish Textile Industry.

As a result of the activities of the TTÇG, a report was prepared and shared with the public in January 2008, which envisioned the establishment of a “Research Center” in 2008. For this purpose, a company was established jointly by the Uludag Textile Exporters Association and the Uludag Ready-Made Clothing and Apparel Exporters Association, and on August 19, 2008, it became a legal entity under the name of “Uludag Exporters’ Association Bursa Textile and Apparel, Technology, Education, Research, Consultancy and Energy Efficiency Services Limited Company” (BUTEKOM).

As of October 15, 2014, there has been a change in BUTEKOM’s capital structure, and it will continue its operations as a partnership between the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) with a 50% share, Uludag Textile Exporters Association (UTIB) with a 32.5% share, and Uludag Ready-Made Clothing and Apparel Exporters Association (UHKIB) with a 17.5% share.

In order to expand its service area and reflect its success in the textile sector to other sectors, BUTEKOM changed its name to “BUTEKOM Bursa Technology and Coordination R&D Center Joint Stock Company” as of April 22, 2016.
