An information event was held in Ankara and Istanbul with the aim of increasing the collaboration of SMEs operating in the technical textile and composite material sectors within the scope of BUTEXCOMP, which was implemented in Bursa with the aim of strengthening their competitiveness in global markets.
Composite Material and Technical Textile Prototype Production and Application Center Project (BUTEXCOMP), supported by the European Union within the framework of the ‘Competitive Sectors Program’ of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey and carried out by the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) under the umbrella of BUTEKOM, continues its activities. Within the scope of the project, after Bursa, ‘Composite Material and Technical Textile Cluster Promotion and Inter-Cluster Cooperation Development Event’ was held in Ankara and Istanbul. At the event, sectoral trends, R&D and innovation opportunities, work areas and cooperation issues were discussed together with national and international stakeholders.
High-Tech Machinery Park at BUTEKOM
The BUTEXCOMP Project Operation Coordination Unit Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karahan said, “We started our activities by implementing the high-tech machinery park in BUTEKOM, where design, modeling and prototype production, testing and analysis services are offered, which is our most important goal in the project. At the same time, work has been completed to create a fully integrated innovation cluster in the composite material and technical textile sectors. We have made great progress with BUTEXCOMP and have reached approximately 90 percent of our targeted outputs.” made the statement.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karahan said, “The rapidly increasing competitive environment and developing technology, as well as the changing rules of global trade, force our businesses to be more innovative and more efficient. There has been an obligation to continue not only with inter-company collaborations but also with inter-cluster collaborations. For this reason, we continue our activities to position our project as a platform that will enable collaborations at national and international levels.”

The ‘Composite Material and Technical Textile Innovation Cluster’ event, organized within the scope of BUTEXCOMP under the umbrella of BUTEKOM, attracted significant interest from sector stakeholders in separate workshops held in Ankara and Istanbul. Evaluating the event, Murat Kurtlar, the General Manager of Bursa Technology Coordination and R&D Center (BUTEKOM), stated, “As an effective and competitive organization, our goal is to develop sustainable growth, value-added production, and social responsibility initiatives. Opportunities for Collaboration with Belgium and Germany
BUTEXCOMP officials provided detailed information about the project at events held in Istanbul and Ankara. Additionally, during the events, discussions were held via video conferencing with Walter Lutz, the Secretary-General, and Judith Bosch, the Project Manager of the European Technology Platform for the Future of Textiles and Clothing, based in Belgium, as well as Volker Mathes, the Business Development Manager of the Federation of Reinforced Plastics operating in Germany, to evaluate sectoral trends, areas of work, and collaboration opportunities.
